About Louis

A background grounded in the field.

Louis Baker is a building enclosure consultant and project manager whose work spans construction observation, performance investigations, field testing, technical reporting, and coordinating corrective work. His experience includes roofing, above- and below-grade waterproofing, air barriers, exterior walls, windows, and protective coatings.

His field work has included controlled water testing, roof moisture surveys, pull testing, and investigation of water intrusion. It requires looking closely at how materials, details, installation sequences, and transitions between systems affect a condition. A photograph is useful; understanding its location, surrounding construction, and the circumstances of the observation gives it meaning.

Louis documents installation concerns, communicates findings, and follows corrective responses through subsequent review. Project management adds the responsibility of coordinating people, priorities, budgets, site visits, RFIs, and changing scopes across multiple projects. That combination shapes his interest in software that supports both detailed field work and the wider project picture.

From Louis

Why I’m building QualityShieldPro.

I want the information we work hard to collect in the field to remain useful through every step that follows. When someone raises a concern, the team should be able to understand what was found, why it matters, who needs to respond, and what evidence will support the next decision.

My experience with field documentation and construction software has shaped what I want QualityShieldPro to do: bring drawings, observations, photographs, responses, and review decisions into a connected workflow. The person coordinating several projects needs a clear view of priorities. The person standing at a field location needs the right context and a practical way to document the work.

That is why quality assurance comes first in this product. My goal is to help people follow a concern through an accountable review and leave a record that the next team can understand and use.

Experience translated into design

The details that shape the product.

These are the practical expectations guiding QualityShieldPro’s development.

Put the finding in context.

Connect the marked drawing, revision, location, original observation, and photographs. A person joining later should be able to understand the concern without reconstructing it from separate records.

Keep repeated concerns visible.

Retain earlier observations and responses when a condition needs another visit or appears again. Make the outstanding question and the next responsibility clear.

Explain what the review established.

Keep test conditions, access limits, submitted evidence, and review decisions understandable. A record should distinguish what was observed, what was concluded, and what still needs follow-up.

Project coordination belongs beside that technical record. An RFI can explain why a detail changed; a change order can document separately reviewed scope and cost; time and site-visit records can show the effort involved. Connecting them should make the work easier to follow while preserving the meaning of each decision.

Building with the next user in mind.

Louis leads QualityShieldPro’s product direction and development. His building enclosure background provides a practical foundation for a broader platform intended to support nine construction and property disciplines and the professionals responsible for their work.

The product is in development, with a public sample available to explore today. Louis welcomes feedback about the handoffs that require repeated follow-up, the information that is difficult to recover, and the records teams need after turnover. Those concrete workflow problems help inform the product’s priorities.
